CAN DO Community Challenge: April 2017

The CAN DO Community Challenge is a local hunger relief campaign designed to heighten awareness about local food insecurity, and challenge the community to become engaged with the Food Pantry.

The Challenge Corps – a local group of philanthropists – has challenged the Food Pantry to raise 100,000 in dollars and donated food items.  If we achieve the 100,000 goal during the month of April, the Challenge Crops will donate an additional $25,000.

School Competition

As part of the CAN DO Community Challenge, we hold a competition among area schools to spread the word about local hunger while raising food and funds.  Last year 100% of Oak Park and River Forest Public Schools participated in the Challenge.  Brooks Middle School took home the Challenge Trophy, collecting enough to provide 210 families with food and hunger-relief programing.

Why April?

Traditionally, donations to food pantries and food banks are at their lowest during spring, despite a consistent need for hunger-relief services.  Help end local hunger this April by joining in the CAN DO Community Challenge.
