The 2018 CAN DO Challenge Champion is...

The CAN DO Community Challenge not only extends to local businesses, congregations, and individuals, but also to our schools where students strive to win the CAN DO trophy.
The Challenge winner was determined on a point system:

  • 10 points for donated dollars (for every $1 donated, the Pantry can purchase $9 worth of food)
  • 5 points for “high powered” items (canned meat (tuna, chicken, salmon), peanut butter, beans, plain oatmeal, brown rice, beef stew and whole wheat pasta)
  • 5 points for every volunteer hour
  • 1 point was awarded for every other item donated
In the closest CAN DO competition to date, Brooks Middle School grabbed the top spot with 22,546 points, followed by OPRF High School and Mann Elementary.  Combined, all of the participating schools raised enough food and monetary donations to provide over 22,300 meals to our neighbors in need!

This added a great boost to our community goal of $100,000 dollars and 10,000 donated items, which we are pleased to annouce we met, securing the $25,000 match from the Challenge Corps.

We are so appreciative of the generosity and support shown by our schools and community.  Thank you all for rallying to end local hunger!
