Families with children are much more likely to be food insecure. We focus on providing meals and snacks to kids when they are most at-risk of going hungry – during the summer months and at after-school programs.
For more information on our work to reduce childhood hunger, contact Daisy Gabriel Program Coordinator, (708) 386-1324 ext. 2113.
Summer is a critical time for children’s academic and physical well-being. Many kids who rely on school meals, struggle to get enough to eat during school breaks.
Collaborations – Closed Distribution Sites
Beyond Hunger partners with Oak Park Education Foundation through BASE CAMP and with Oak Park River Forest High School through their summer school programs. Together we provide nutritious lunch and snacks to participants who would normally receive free or reduced-priced lunch during the school year.
Along with a partner host, we provide a free, drop-in summer lunch site where anyone 18 and under can partake in activities and enjoy a balanced meal.
Meet up & Eat Up happens every summer the week after Oak Park public schools go on summer break and it ends a week before school starts. Location may change every year due to USDA’s eligibility requirements.
