Looming SNAP Deadline

Dear friends in the fight against hunger,

The U.S. House of Representatives will soon consider its budget, which is slated to include massive cuts to SNAP (food stamps) and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and other vital programs that help people lift themselves out of poverty.

If SNAP and TEFAP are weakened Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry and other pantries, food banks, and soup kitchens won't be able to fill the gap.

Please contact our congressman — Danny Davis — now and ask him to forcefully say 'no' to proposed cuts!  SNAP and TEFAP are critical to the efforts to battle hunger and food insecurity!

Here’s what you can say:

"I'm urging Congressman Davis to stand up for families in need by fighting back against any budget proposals that would cut the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and (The Emergency Food Assistance Program - TEFAP)."

To call your U.S. Representative:

Congessman Davis:  773-533-7520 (local office)  202-225-5006 (Washington, D.C., office)

If Danny Davis is not your member of Congress, you can call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your representative.

You can find contact information for your U.S. Representative at https://www.contactingcongress.org/

YOU can HELP our efforts immensely: Advocate for residents who need assistance by calling a friend, family member, colleague in another Congressional District (Oak Park, Forest Park and River Forest are in the 7th Congressional District) and asking them to contact their member of congress on behalf of hungry people.
if you need help in identifying your member of congress, contact Bob Haisman at haismanbo@gmail.com.

Thank you for your help!
