Empty Bowls is in the Works

On November 3rd 16 Oak Park and River Forest High School Students stayed throughout the night (7pm to 7am) to make bowls for the Empty Bowls fundraiser.  The fundraiser, which takes place in February, raises money for Oak Park River Forest Food Pantry and Housing Forward.  Last year, the fundraiser grossed over $10,000 by selling bowls filled with soup and bread at the event.

During their all-night marathon, the students made almost 1,000 bowls, breaking the previous record of 500 made in 1 night. The group went through almost 1 ton of clay creating the bowls, and 16 of the school's 18 pottery wheels were going all night.

We look forward to getting a bowl for ourself come February!
