How You Can Help

As job and work losses mount amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, our neighbors are letting us know they are scared. People need emergency support to put food on their table. And they have increasing anxiety that their resource for groceries may close. Rest assured, Beyond Hunger has committed to staying open to serve anyone who needs food.

And throughout the escalating crisis, we have been extremely grateful to hear from so many in our community that you would like to assist.

Here is how you can help:

Make an individual donation
Donations allow us to offer the essential nutrients that people need right now. We have strong purchasing power through our partnerships and wholesale connections. Just $1 allows us to provide 3 meals. We also have 40 years of experience in knowing what people want. A dollar donation allows us to purchase items, like chicken, that we know are in high demand ensuring each client gets their choice. Donate HERE.

Don’t Volunteer YET
Often in situations of increased need, we would ask for volunteers. In this instance, we have shifted our procedures so that we can maintain safe social distancing and are able to cover our needs with a small group of core volunteers. We are halting new volunteer sign up through the current crisis. However, please be ready to help out as we resume normal operations and for our Summer Meals program. Sign up for our newsletters and follow us on social media and watch for volunteer orientation to resume later this Spring. Sign up HERE.

Host a virtual food-drive
Our clients are anxious about the rising number of business closings, and they are calling—are we closing too? While our essential need right now is raising funds to help us provide food, we also need to let our community know that we are open to serve those who are hungry. Hosting a virtual food drive helps that message reach a wider audience. Whether you host the drive through Facebook, through email, or by organizing the neighbors on your block – every dollar matters. Most importantly, sharing the message, “Beyond Hunger has committed to staying open to serve anyone who needs food,” will have a huge impact. If you would like help setting up a virtual food-drive through social media, or drafting an email to send to neighbors – please contact Sarah@gobeyondhunger.org.
